Mrs. Claudette Cubit Alvarez

Mrs. Claudette Lonjae Cubit Alvarez, age 46, resident of Springdale, Arkansas and former resident of De Queen, went to meet her Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born to Walter Gene and Charlotte Marie Hill Cubit on March 24, 1973 in De Queen. She was a 1991 graduate of Wright City High School and later received her CNA license from a Springdale area college. She married the love of her life, David Oswaldo Alvarez on February 6, 2004 in Fayetteville. Claudette had a heart of a caretaker and spent many years of her professional life helping others at the Northwest Medical Center in Northwest Arkansas. While she loved her work in the medical field, shortly before Claudette became ill, she made a career change which brought her great joy. She was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, North Carolina Tar Heels and the Tennessee Volunteers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wright City and enjoyed helping others, opening her home to her family and friends, fishing and gardening, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Cubit, and an uncle, Richard Hill.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, David Alvarez of Springdale; her mother, Charlotte Cubit of De Queen; two brothers, Walter Cubit, Jr. of Springdale and Bobo Stafford of Eagletown; two sisters, Paula Cubit and Naudi Powell, both of De Queen; her grandmother, Dixie Hill of De Queen; five nephews, Walterius Richard, Tyrone Cubit, Zaquavion Richard, Kyzier Fricks and Tarius Richard; eight nieces, Margaret Parker, Mya Parker, Kiara Baker, Jaquasha Richard, Yasmeen Cubit, Haylinn Mills, Tari Richard and Zariyah Wootton; seven aunts, Catherine Jordan (Charlie), Carolyn Young, Teresa Hill, Hazel Swift (Leroy), Sequtia Hill, Dorothy Elder (Robert) and Brenda Pennon; five uncles, Dwight Cubit (Evangeline), Lonnie Watson, Bobby Hill, Steve Hill and Clifford Hill; as well as, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Claudette Cubit Alvarez will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 18, 2020 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Sis. Sherry Grant officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
