Mr. Charles Matthew Dowdy “Chunk”, age 32, a resident of Umpire, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Charles was born to Troy Wayne Dowdy and Tammy Johnell Maish on July 27, 1993, in Mena, Arkansas. He attended Athens Holiness Church; he worked on the pipelines as a welder/operator. Charles loved his trucks, motorcycles, anything that went fast, he also enjoyed hunting, candy, giving his nieces and nephews bags of candy, but most of all he enjoyed spending his time with them.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Linda Dowdy.

Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory, his father, Troy Dowdy of Athens, Arkansas; his mother, Tammy Richard of Greers Ferry, Arkansas; his twin brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Allie Dowdy, brother, Dillon Dowdy, and a sister and brother-in-law, Hailey and Turner Reed, all of Athens, Arkansas; his nieces and nephews, Dieslynn, Colter, Jensen, Thomas, Paisley, Jackson and June; his girlfriend and her daughter, Hailey and Emersyn Maxfield of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; his cat and dog “his kids”, Diesel and Smokey; a special cousin, Jimmy Little of Athens, Arkansas; along with aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Rayden Howard, Bobby Bailey, Marcus Miller, Andy Gurley, Jimmy Little, and Donald Dowdy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be David Neal, Dillon Dowdy, Robert Gurley and Turner Reed.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Dowdy will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Athens Holiness Church with Bro. Wes Wakley and Bro. Darrin Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Athens Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday July 10, 2026, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel.
