Mrs. Carol Watkins
Mrs. Carol Collins Watkins, age 82, resident of Gillham, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, January 29, 2021, at her home in Gillham.
Carol was one of three children born to Dan Collins and Flossie Gilchrist Collins on September 30, 1938, in Oklahoma City. She married the love of her life, William James Watkins, on June 18, 1960. They were blessed with three children. Carol worked for the Sevier County Adult Activity Center and Group Home for many years, where she was known as "Aunt Carol". She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gillham where she served as Director of Vacation Bible School for more than 20 years. Carol cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of over 51 years; one son, Harry Watkins; one sister, Connie Richey; and one brother, Benny Collins.
Carol leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters and sons-in-law, Leianna and Roger Bruster of Mena, and Genita and Michael Whitley of De Queen; one daughter-in-law, Mary Watkins of Garden Grove, California; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Candace Whitley of Gillham, Ryan Whitley of De Queen, Lori and Cody Bourque of Phoenix, Arizona, Austin and Sonia Watkins of Winter Park, Florida, Jesse Watkins of Newport Beach, California, and Dylan Watkins of Graden Grove, California; eight great-grandchildren, Erin and Billy Watkins of Tustin, California, Taran and Kavi Watkins of Winter Park, Florida, Austin, Aiden and Ethan Everitt of Mena, and Bennett Whitley of Gillham; as well as, other relatives and a host of friends.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Carol Watkins will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the Gillham Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Hill officiating. Burial will follow, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home. The use of a face mask or covering will be required during your time at the funeral home.
