Mr. Bobby Butler
Mr. Bobby Lynn Butler, age 83, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, and former resident of Horatio, passed from this life on Monday, January 8, 2024, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Bobby was born one of nine children to Bowden D. and Tressie I. Duke Butler on December 10, 1940, in De Queen. He was a graduate of Horatio High School and went on to serve with the Army National Guard. Following his honorable discharge from the service, Bobby went to work as a welder, machinist, and mechanic, working a number of years for Riverside Machine in De Queen. Bobby was also an accomplished carpenter, having built four homes in Horatio and two at the De Queen Lake. Bobby loved to travel, but best spent his time in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, or "God's Country", as he called it. He loved it in Wyoming so much he moved there a number of times but returned to Sevier County to care for his brother, David. Bobby was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church. He loved to read his Bible, play his guitar, Corvettes, Mustangs, and spending time with his loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bowden and Tressie Butler; one sister, Linda Bernice Butler; and three brothers, Donald Edwin Butler, David Glenn Butler, and Ronald Royce Butler.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Kevin Hughes of Panama City Beach, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sheila Butler of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth A. Butler of Wilton, Arkansas; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Julia and Gary Kelley of Carrollton, Texas, Glenda and Charles Shooke of Nash, Texas, and Joyce and Pat Gore of Ashdown, Arkansas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Graveside Services for Mr. Bobby Butler will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Horatio Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. You may leave a condolence online at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
