Mr. Bill Whitley
Mr. William Leon "Bill" Whitley, age 92, resident of El Paso, Texas, passed from this life on Sunday, January 21, 2024, in El Paso.

Bill was born to the union of William Thomas and Enice Victoria Crow Whitley Mount on November 23, 1931, in Lovington, New Mexico. He was a 1949 graduate of Gillham High School and shortly after graduation, joined the United States Army. Bill faithfully served twenty years until his retirement and honorable discharge. Following his discharge from the service, Bill worked in a number of different capacities, including time selling Rainbow Vacuums, eight years as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, and others. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Story Baptist Church in De Queen and was faithful member of his home church in El Paso. Bill was a Mason and member of the VFW and enjoyed playing pool, watching sports on TV and going to the games, traveling with his wife Shirley, and making walking canes from twisted willow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Whitley and Enice Mount; his stepfather, William Mount; one daughter, Kim Matheny; two grandchildren, Marci Null and Marc Matheny; two sisters, Juanita Whitley and Myrah Thompson; and two brothers, Troy Whitley and Lawson Whitley.

Bill leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Shirley Whitley of El Paso; seven children, Sheri Mills of De Queen, Jay Whitley of Marrero, Louisiana, June Pinson and her husband Jerry of Dierks, Stacy Higgins of De Queen, Chris Whitley and his wife Angela of North Carolina, Amanda Hoover of Ripley, Ohio, and Will Whitley of Hamilton Ohio; one sister, Ann Chandler of Lincoln, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Graveside Services for Mr. William "Bill" Whitley will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 9, 2024, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave., El Paso, Texas. A time of visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer Street, El Paso, Texas.
