Obituary

Mrs. Allene Thornton
Mrs. Bessie Allene Dixson Thornton, age 85, resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, passed from this life on Friday, September 4, 2020, at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home, Ashdown, Arkansas.

She was born to Marion and Minnie Ayers Dixson on September 7, 1934 in Sevier County, Arkansas. She married the love of her life, Thomas Monroe Thornton, on January 5, 1949 in Wilton, Arkansas, and to this union, four children were born. After Thomas' passing in 1983, she later married Harold David Wisnoskie, with whom she shared loving years until his passing in 2019. Allene worked a short time for Baldwin Piano Company and later raised chickens and kept the home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lockesburg and enjoyed knitting, reading, watching westerns, Fox News and NASCAR. She was an avid fan of Jeff Gordon. She also enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, and going to flea markets, but more than anything, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, especially her great-great-grandson, Corban.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Thomas Thornton and David Wisnoskie; grandson, Shelby Todd Elliott; daughter-in-law, Joan Thornton; two brothers, Eugene and Leo Dixson; and one sister, Mary Conatser.

Allene leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Thomas Ray Thornton of Lockesburg; three daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Gaylon Alexander of Lockesburg, Cheryl and Shelby Elliott of Foreman, and Lisa and David Jones of Lockesburg; seven grandchildren, Carolyn, Todd, Tony Ray, Becky, Michael, Samantha and J.D.; nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laverne Renfrow and Ernestine Clay, both of Lockesburg; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
