Mrs. Athel Ayers

Mrs. Athel June Fant Ayers, age 89, resident of Lockesburg, passed from this life on Friday, July 05, 2019 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was the fifth of seven children born to Carlos and Mary Ella Simmons Fant on February 7, 1930 in Daisy, Arkansas. She was a 1948 graduate of the Lockesburg High School and worked as a Real Estate Agent for many years, owning Sevier County Reality. She married the love of her life, Willie Fay Ayers on June 12, 1948 in Nashville, Arkansas. She was a member of the De Queen Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed working and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Loye, Dean, Hershell and Eugene Fant; and one sister, Geneva Mack.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 71 years, Willie Ayers of Lockesburg; three sons, Mike Ayers and his wife Kaye of Horatio, Dan Ayers and his wife Lorine of De Queen and Tim Ayers and his wife Christy of Lockesburg; one daughter, Kayla Nottingham and her husband Jim of Lockesburg; eleven grandchildren, Stephanie Baker, Lori Marshall, Casey Hardaway, Alex Ayers, April Ayers, Curtis Ayers, Jennifer Ayers, Kimberly Ayers, Jason Nottingham, Sunni Tollett and Jake Nottingham; 28 great-grandchildren, Bella, Laney, Kate, Mika, Mason, Mallori, Heidi, Lance, Titus, Halli, Jacob, Dominic, Nolan, Ty, Abrey, Alaina, Allysia, Aaliyah, Abigail, Adalyne, Gunner, Emmy, Taylor, Kaydance, Hayzn, Zander, Levi and Garrett; one brother, Floyd "Samp" Fant of Lockesburg; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Athel Ayers will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 7, 2019 in the Old Center Church, Horatio, with Bro. Adam Key officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
