Mrs. Diane Allen
Mrs. Alta Diane Sawyer Allen, age 84, resident of Magnolia Springs, Alabama, passed from this life on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama.
She was born to Cyrus Arthur and Margaret Elizabeth Peel Sawyer on July 25, 1935 in Waco, Texas. She was a 1953 graduate of De Queen High School and married the love of her life, Marlin Ray Allen, on May 23 rd of that year. She worked as Secretary for Conoco, retiring with 32 years of service and was a Christian. She was a member of the Magnolia Springs Garden Club and enjoyed gardening, building large doll houses, flowers, playing Solitaire and watching movies, but most of all, she cherished the times spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 60 years, Marlin Allen; her mother and father-in-law, Tompie Vera and Walter Lee Allen, Sr.; and her beloved dog and cat, Paco and Nicky.
She is survived by one daughter, Becky Estes and her husband Tom of Magnolia Springs, Alabama; one son, Steven Ray Allen and his wife Tania of Lake Charles, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Courtney Bowles of Fort Collins, Colorado, Ryan Matthew Wallace of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lindsay Diane Gillard and husband Jeremy of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Dr. Shelby Ann Hebert and husband Dr. Tyler Hebert of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Erin Ann Forsse and husband Dr. Stephen Forsse of Waco, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Maddy, Zoe, Lucas, Jonas, Juliet and Jenna; the Allen family: Joyce Smith, Barbara Allen, Floy Smith, Carolyn Cowling, and Marolyn Needham and husband Wendell; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Diane Allen will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 24, 2020 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Carlton officiating. Burial will follow at the Allen Family Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., tonight, February 23 rd , at the funeral home. You may send an online sympathy message at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
